(URGENT) Vacancy - Yayasan Kopernik - Shelter Specialist - Lombok, NTB

The Shelter Specialist is responsible for supporting the daily management of the shelter program including operations activities, facilitating service delivery and meeting clients’ basic needs around emergency shelter in Lombok. The Shelter Specialist will work under the guidance of the Program Manager (ER).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyse on-ground situation and identify shelter needs and recommend possible interventions
• Improve the sustainability and durability of shelter solutions by developing the capacity of beneficiaries through adequate training and coaching
• Monitor activities to ensure effective and safe operations of shelters
• Develop action plans to ensure timely and effective delivery of shelter support
• Support improvement of shelter/early recovery relevant procurement processes
• Provide technical assistance to beneficiaries in relation to safe rebuilding
• Maintain close working relationships with local authorities and related actors in Lombok
• Complete data entry, reports, daily logs and other reporting requirements

SKILLS AND BEHAVIOR:

• Computer literate with strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of humanitarian standards and codes, including Sphere
• Ability to work as a team as well as individually with minor supervision
• Ability to do physical activities and multitask in extended shifts during emergencies
• Ability to work simultaneously and meet deadlines in an insecure, stressful environment
• Work in a fast paced environment with diverse people with diverse background and special needs
• Rapidly develop a strong understanding of the cultural, political and religious environment in the region

REQUIREMENTS:

• A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of safety and security standards, equipment, precautionary measures and communication protocols in unstable situations and procurement systems
• Experience working with displaced populations and familiar with international humanitarian operations and the mandates of UN agencies, Red Cross organizations and other NGOs
• Understanding of participatory methodologies for project design and M&E methodology
• Experience working with host governments and their agents, INGOs and national NGOs
• Prior experience working with homeless populations is preferred

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• Potentially harsh environment with high insecurities
• Housing will also vary depending on the situation but expect basic, communal accommodations

SALARY RANGE
IDR 10-13 mil/month
